Hotels Playa del Carmen are quiet destinations off the coast of the Caribbean – that is until recently. Now, the once small fishing town has doubled in size over just the last couple of years. To get to Hotels Playa del Carmen, you have to travel to the state of Quintana Roo on the Yucatan Peninsula. It is south of Cancun by approximately forty-two miles and just across the straights from Cozumel. The area is also part of what is known as the Riviera Maya, a tourism district that runs parallel to the coast of the Caribbean Sea. It is known for its marvelous white beaches, coral reefs, gentle surf, scuba diving and relaxed atmosphere. No wonder the tourists are flocking there!

Because of the rise in tourism and the city’s citizens, Hotels Playa del Carmen is now the third largest city in Quintana Roo and development of more businesses has begun in the downtown area. There are even chains being introduced to the already established main street of 5th Avenue, or as the locals call it “Avenida Quinta”. However, the natives have worked hard to maintain the small town feel and have succeeded in passing an ordinance that prevents buildings, including Hotels Playa del Carmen, from exceeding four stories in height. Regardless of the height of the buildings, the residents will continue to bring the relaxed Mexican-Caribbean culture they are known for to the area.
